Trip to Yogyakarta

Yogyakarta is a special area within the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia which still maintains the governance in the form of a sultanate in its regional government. In the pre-independence era, Jogja was a self-governing area with the titles of the Ngayogyakarta Sultanate and the Duchy of Pakualaman.

This area has a governance system with a sultanate system. However, after the independence of the Republic of Indonesia, these two governments joined together in the territory of the Republic of Indonesia with a special law that governs regional governance.

Talking about tourism in Yogyakarta, this topic will never end. There is always something new and interesting from this unique city to show and become an attraction.

If you compare it with other cities on the island of Java, there will be no other city that has as many and interesting tourist attractions as Yogyakarta. Not just one or two places, this city can be said as a tourist paradise.



There are at least 4 groups of tourist destinations in Yogyakarta, including:


1. Temple Tour





Because it is the site of the former ruins of several kingdoms in the past, it is not surprising that many temples will be found in Jogja. Moreover, the kingdom in the past adhered to different religions and beliefs.

Each generation builds a temple to be used as a place of worship. This is what causes many temples around Yogyakarta. There are at least 24 temples and 10 relics of the royal era that are still guarded and preserved today.

You may know several temples such as Borobudur, Prambanan, Kalasan, Gampingan, Sari Temple and so on. Sites that are quite famous such as Ratu Boko Site, Gupolo Statue Site and so on.


2. Beach Tour


Because of its location directly adjacent to the Indian Ocean, Yogyakarta also has many beaches in the South. Based on the location, the beaches in Jogja are grouped into 6 parts, namely Bantul 1, Bantul 2, Gunungkidul 1, Gunungkidul 2, Gunungkidul 3 and Kulon Progo. The most visited beaches are in the Bantul 1 and 2 areas, namely Parangtritis, Parangkusumo, Depok, Pandansari, Cemara Cave and Pandansimo beaches.


3. Goa Tourism


The city of Yogyakarta also has dozens of cave tours scattered throughout the region. There are at least 45 caves that have been identified and some of them have even been designated as tourist sites. Caves in Yogyakarta that are quite famous are Cerme Cave, Pindul Cave, Jomblang Cave, Kiskendo Cave and Selarong Cave. All of these caves have become popular tourist destinations that are often visited by tourists both from within and outside the country.


4. Nature Tourism


In addition to caves and beaches, Jogja also has various interesting natural attractions such as waterfalls, rivers, reservoirs and mountains. Mount Merapi, Sri Gethuk Waterfall, Kaliurang and so on are some examples of popular tourist attractions in Yogyakarta.
